Gabion boxes

Gabion boxes (also named Gabions baskets) are hexagonal wire mesh containers fabricated with double twisted metal wires. It is a new type of structure which has been recently widely used in transportation, municipal works, horticulture, and water conservancy, etc.
Basically speaking, the wire diameter is different according to the size of the hexagon. It the hexagon is covered with metal coatings, the wire diameter should range from 2.0mm to 4.0mm, and the thickness of the zinc coating can vary from 60g/m2 to 300g/m2. If the hexagonal wire mesh is covered with PVC coatings, the wire diameter is required to be from 3.0mm to 4.5mm. The Gabion boxes are usually made from low carbon galvanized steel wire of 10% Al-Zn alloy steel wire. If the surface is covered with a a layer of PVC or PE coating, the Gabion box will be featured by rust resistance, anti-aging, anti-static performance, corrosion resistance, high compressive strength and so on. Moreover, they can effectively resist the erosion of seawater as well as highly polluted environment.
Nowadays, Gabion box have been successfully applied in various projects, such as water conservancy, railway, and embankment protection works, etc., which achieve an effective combination of engineering projects and ecological environment. At the same time, in comparison with some traditional rigid structures, Gabion boxes have some incomparable advantages.
